The Western music system (12-Tone Equal Temperament) has been great this past few hundred years, but every field reaches a time for innovation. Today we are beyond slated to experiment with how music theory can advance digitally. The vast majority of human history used harmonic intervals (Just Intonation) as opposed to tempered intervals, but in standardizing physical instruments 12-TET was the logical compromise. Today we are not faced with the problem of standardizing physical instruments, quite the opposite, how to go forward from what's been standardized for so long.

In Digital Music Theory you have access to every harmonic interval, that is theoretically infinite perfectly tuned notes. You have systems for coherently organizing harmonics and understanding why you would use one note over another, in theory and in practice. Our goal is make these methods so intuitve that you can alter scales in real time, so that relevant notes are always available to you in live performance or jamming.

The following instruments are experimental designs for how Just Intonation can be implemented on a digital interface. I can offer you no proof that this is what music and instrumentation will be like in the future, only the consolation that I have used these instruments to some success.
